The last time I did a hair commercial was with the French, a commercial for Garnier. The one model's hair took 7 hour to get ready... I should have known better when the hair stylist on this one told me he needed an hour to get each model ready. We ended up wrapping at one in the morning on our first shoot day - 8 hours overtime (oops) Luckily this was within the budget.
It wasn't the initial setup time that killed it was the time between each take when it comes to hair the old adage really applies: "Its not the time it takes to shoot the takes that takes the time its the time between the takes that takes the time..."
Day two was a lot better - we only got to shooting about an hour later then expected and the time between the takes where not too long, we were able to only do 3 hours overtime. All in all the commercials look really good; here are some pictures...
